    Russ is Rex’s son. Last I checked they were not allied with Heidi Kenny, though I suppose it’s accurate to say they’re part of “the same stew.” The Frosts are what are often called “hard money lenders” (though Rex doesn’t like the term). They had been divesting themselves of the houses Rex bought since the ’60s and ’70s, and lending out the profits to other investors at up to 14.9 percent interest.

    Perhaps you all should be careful about the accusations you make. Know your facts before you type them. For example, the people who “make a mess of your neighborhood” are the ones who live there. Thats the problem, no one holds the tenants accountable for the way they live. Also, the catagorize Rex as a “hard money lender” is a audacious and false statement. Sounds to me like you should do your research.

    DR FROST HAS MADE HELP FUND MILLIONS TO INVESTORS THAT NEEDED FUNDING TO GET THEIR BUSINESSES STARTED. I LOVE THE GUY HE HAS HELP ME OUT MANY TIMES!! PLEASE DONT THROW DIRT ON HIS GOOD NAME.

      Unfortunately, the people who have to live next to the properties Dr. Frost owns might not agree. Would YOU want to live next to a falling-down vacant property?

    I would have to highly DISAGREE with all the comments listed on this forum. I have been doing business with Dr. Rex Frost for many many years. He is highly respected and an honorable gentlemen to do business with. His son Russell is also a very polite, intelligent, and astute businessman. As a matter of fact, I just recently purchased one of his REO properties in the city and the neighbors welcomed me with open arms. Unfortunately, it’s the borrowers who default and ruin a neighborhood not a lender. The lender provides investors the opportunity to beautify a nasty eyesore in their neighborhood. In summary, I would have to say to all these hateful individuals out there, get to know a person before you are so quick to judge. As a matter of fact, try getting to know Dr. Frost. You might be glad you did :)

      Unfortunately you’ve missed the point, as so many slumlord apologists do. Rex Frost isn’t just the lender, he’s the owner of some of these properties. And therefore a slumlord, when you see the condition they’re in.

        He just rented out a house that my brother lives next door to and the guy he rented to was a convicted felon and has robbed my brother and other neighbors on the street. He is a slum lord – he does not do background checks on the people he rents his slums to.

    Rex Frost is the owner of some of the properties because the borrows default and as a lender, he must foreclose on defaulted properties. In this economy, many properties have been foreclosed on and unfortuntly it leaves Mr. Frost with an abundance of vacant, subpar properties. Slumlordwatch is incredible. 90% of the information provided in this article is completely and utterly incorrect. 1. Russell is Rex’s son (which i noticed was stated by another that left a comment.) 2. Heidi Kenny is an attorney whom purchases tax liens and has never had anything to do with the Frost’s what so ever. 3. slumlords are categorized as landlords who do not keep up with their rentals, not owners of properties that are boarded and inhabitable. Rex Frost does not have tenants in the inhabitable properties like the one shown above.

    Please get your information correct. You are trashing a mans name because you did not research your information. I have read other “articles” written about this “acclaimed” slum lord watch and every article has at least 2 pieces of incorrect information.

      I don’t know where to even begin with your comment. Nowhere in the post did I say anything about Heidi Kenny being affiliated with Rex Frost or his son. If you want to defend bad property owners go right ahead — I’m sure your boss will be quite pleased.

      Rebecca, do you realize that you work for a guy (John Reiff) who barely escaped going to federal prison by ratting out his co-conspirators in that auction bid-rigging scheme? The same guy who had the nerve to lecture me about why the proposed vacant tax bill was a bad idea while he was still under investigation by the feds? How do you sleep at night while knowing that you work for a crook who is ruining this city?

    Interesting datapoint for all the apologists for the owner of this property….If the owner “702 N. Curley, LLC: Russell A. Frost” is such and upstanding person why are 78 other properties owned by 75 distinct LLCs owned by entities also listing 824 EASTERN BLVD as the Owner Address? When a normal bank forecloses on a property and takes possession it doesn’t create a new LLC for each property……
