Update: Mayor Rawlings-Blake Joins Housing to Announce Aggressive Enforcement Action Taken to Rid Community of Drug Nuisance

An update to our earlier post:

“Today, Baltimore City is serving notice to all landlords that we will not tolerate criminal activity in our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. “To eradicate crime and blight caused by irresponsible landlords, we will use any and all enforcement tools at our disposal to remove the threat posed to the health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of this great City.”

We’re hoping Mayor Rawlings-Blake means this will apply to ALL slumlords, not just the slumlords who will make the biggest splash on the 11:00 news.  If the Mayor would like a list of our Top Ten, we’d be more than happy to oblige.

If the mayor is serious about fighting drug nuisances, then she needs to clean house at HABC (Housing Authority of Baltimore City). I’m surprised that she didn’t clean house after her transition team released that scathing report about their squandering of Head Start funding. If only she knew how much they’re overpaying landlords for Section 8 vouchers.
