There is a lot of talk about “blight” in Baltimore’s poorer neighborhoods. But this building is hundreds of feet away from houses that are someof th e most expensive in the city. And its not the only abandoned building on that part of Light Street.

And i was working in that area one night and made the mistake of walking down Heath Street at night. I was offered drugs by three dealers in less than 60 seconds.

For all of the talk of politicians and city “boosters” about how

” The probvlems are confined to a few bad areas”

,this photo shows that this is not the case.Even the “Nice” areas in Baltimore have abandoned houses and drugs.

I just finished doing an interior demolition on a house in a nice part of Upper Fells Point. And it had obviously beeen recently used for drugs and prostitution by squatters.

You have to wonder if some of our elected officials even bother to walk around their districts — there are abandoned homes and drugs/crime in every neighborhood in this city. A block away from Harbor East there’s blight. A woman was attacked and raped in Roland Park. Drugs are everywhere. It’s easy to shove it all onto “bad” neighborhoods, but that’s an easy cop-out.

It looks like work started on this property…as of yesterday, some of the sidewalk was fenced off (on the Fort Ave side), and ADT-monitoring signs were on the building.
