We have written about Marc Cohen many times before, and wish he would fix up the properties he and his LLCs own before purchasing more.  It’s patently unfair for negligent property owners to be given the green light to purchase property when they own several blighted vacants in one neighborhood, and do work on the homes without the benefit of permits and inspections by the city.

If you weren’t so biased against Marc Cohen you would feature his beautiful renovation of 769 Washington Boulevard and kiss his ass like you should.

If you’d like to send a pic of 769 I’d be more than happy to post an update. However, it’s a shame 1101 Nanticoke is STILL a disgusting mess, along with all of his other blighted properties in Pigtown. Frankly, Mr. Cohen can kiss MY ass, along with all the other residents who have to look at his nasty un-permitted work and blighted vacants.

But the city should keep a close eye on who’s buying properties, when someone who has let multiple properties rot or has done work without permits on multiple properties — there should be a way for the city to stay on top of these folks and make sure work is done in a timely fashion and with the proper permits and inspections. And by licensed contractors, not random people picked off the street corner.

Oh i totally agree the city should be more on top of these guys. I’m pretty sure it’s laziness/incompetence that keeps these people in business. i just don’t think they can prevent buildings from changing hands unless they are performing the auction.

If they can do it in other places, they could do it here. I’m working on something. :)

shame that those slumlords like charm city, stern properties, frederick douglass receive thousands of dollars a month of subsidized rent from the government.

    • Baltimore Slumlord Watch

It’s rather disconcerting, when you consider that many of these slumlords do work on their properties without obtaining the proper permits — which means there were no inspections. How does the government allow tenants to live in homes that were never inspected? Doesn’t make any sense to me.
