What you are doing is wrong and dumb if you can’t provide a solution leave these people alone. They can’t afford to fix the buildings that’s their personal stay out of it. Instead of publicly embarrassing these folks why don’t You do something productive and assist these people or get the community involved in fixing the buildings.

Actually, drawing attention to the problem is generally the first step when you’re trying to find a solution. After doing this for almost five years, I’m finding there are no easy solutions, but there ARE ways to fix this. I’ve changed the scope of the project a bit — fixing 50+ years of bad housing policy is a long, tough road. Hopefully you’ll join in the fight — you’re more than welcome.

I agree that there is absolutely NOTHING WRONG with highlighting this blight. A property owner has a commitment to the community, and these folks are clearly abusing the community. You can be assured that if they could, they would not hesitate to obtain any taxable benefits from divesting at a loss, or financial gain by selling at a gain. So they need to step up and take ownership of their messes and clean them up. Keep up the great job on this website!!!!!

Agreed…and many of them do circumvent the law and take tax benefits they’re not entitled to.

If they cannot afford to fix it then they need to sell it. You can buy “shells” all over the city for 5k or less.
